Forestry

In addition to farmland, there are around 350 acres of woodland and two managed game shoots.  The woodland is carefully managed, dealing with ash dieback - a major problem across the country - and ensuring that more trees are planted to replace those that are lost or must be felled.

Willow is grown for the manufacture of cricket bats and sold, through J.S. Wright and Sons, the world’s largest suppliers of cricket bat willow, to specialist English cricket bat makers, including East Sussex based Gray-Nicolls.

Current work:

08/01/2024 - Essential tree felling is being carried out on diseased Ash trees by the side of the straw barn along the drive to Manydown Park. We have been advised that these trees need to come down due to their proximity to the footpath. We are replanting mature trees to restore some cover as soon as possible.
